I Want!

We live in a world where online shopping is so prevalent and accepted. It's just plain easy to do. And I appreciate that (Cyber Tuesday vs. Black Friday mornings anyone?).

As ridiculous as it is, craigslist is one of my favorite websites. I love thrift shopping from my bed almost as much as I love carrying around my bottle of hand sanitizer through The Youth Ranch. The cool thing is that I've found some great things while doing it.

This is a post that I came across a little over a week ago and I'm in love. I. Want. This. Set. Who wouldn't feel like royalty sitting in these chairs? The problem is that they are borderline above the price I'm willing to pay (to be honest, I think it is a lot easier to get forgiveness from Hubs when I come home with a $10 table instead of a $300 set, even though he still rolls his eyes). I would reupholster them in a beige material with French words (the one that happens to be $50 a yard -- GAH!) and probably paint the chairs off white even though I am fond of the color in the pictures. The table top color would change too.

Goodwill Globe

See this globe? I got this version today at Goodwill, except the one I got was not so bright and cheerful. It was more dingy and faded. I even tried to talk them down from $2.99 (bad, I know). But, I had something in mind to hopefully make it better and give it new life... white spray paint (my best friend in the whole wide world).

This picture doesn't do it justice because it was taken at night so there is no natural lighting. The globe is white and the stand is gray (to go with our office color scheme of gray and yellow).

Here's the whole picture (don't look at the books -- they are not organized yet). I'm still not sure what I think about it.

Welcome!

Since my family blog has been taken over by my DIY projects, I decided to dedicate a blog entirely to DIY projects and maybe some home staging. Pretty much everything I do is inexpensive, by the way, so feel free to share your penny saving projects too!

I chose The Turquoise Piano because, 1) The Painted Piano was taken, and 2) I painted my own piano turquoise. I have decided to change it up a bit with some antiquing glaze but for now, here's a picture of my piano.
