Headboard Help

Okay creative people.  I need your help.  Does anyone know how to make an ornate frame for a headboard (not the diamond tufting -- I get that) like the three seen below from The Paris Apartment (the new site I want to knock-off)?  Any ideas are welcome.  Have a great weekend!

  2. Search Hollywood Regency on Craigslist? LOL, okay, hmm, I thought of repurposing an antique ornate mirror frame. I've seen them pretty large at salvage yards out here.

    1. I'm there with you on the mirror frame. That's probably going to be my best option. I've thought about crown molding, but the bendable kind bends the wrong way.

  3. Hmmm, that's a toughie! Could you make, or get someone to make the basic curvy shape, and then you add the 3-d details with hot glue, then paint the whole thing? I don't even know if that would work or hold up :)

    1. That could work. Maybe some plaster for the 3-d. Hmmm...

  4. How are you with a whittling knife? :) I really don't know, but when you figure it out I'll be glad to read all about it! Those are beautiful.

    1. Whittling, haha! I'm not so good at that. I'll definitely be writing about it if I figure it out. ;)

  5. I would get one of those antique sofas on craigslist and just cannibalize it. They are usually already tufted, too. That is probably your best bet, and easiest, and you can sometimes get them pretty cheap. When I was living in Utah, I actually found one for $100. Here were some I found in my area: http://sacramento.craigslist.org/atq/2781012366.html
