9 Mile Run Story

I've had this internal debate going on about sharing this story with you and I finally decided to just do it.  Because really, if I can't be honest about my body then blogging about it isn't for me.  So here it is.  My healthy eating 9 mile run story.

Last Saturday I woke up and did some Jillian with my mama before heading to the town Easter egg hunt at the park.


It was 9 mile day on my 1/2 marathon training so I planned to do it after the hunt.


The night before I did a "speed" workout.  My speed wasn't very fast but it hurt so I felt good.  I used to be able to do a mile in under 7 minutes and now 8 1/2 hurts.  Haha.  That extra 10 pounds makes a huge difference.  Remember that if you are just starting and have some weight to drop.  It gets easier and you get faster!

Back to the story.  I'm still eating vegan and only whole grains, fruits, veggies and nuts.  Eating so healthy makes me stink.  And have to go without notice.  For real.

So I was running at a 9 1/2 minute pace.  Kind of slow but it was supposed to be for 9 miles.

Then I got to mile 4 1/2 and had to go!  But it was Easter weekend and there was more traffic than normal in the rural town where my parents live.  And no close bushes!  What was I going to do?  I stood there like an idiot and waited for some cars to pass not knowing if I was going to "ess-aych" my pants.  When the coast was clear I dropped trou and used half of the toilet paper that I brought with me (I'm no dummy... I come prepared).  Then I started walking back to this road that wasn't far away.  I had to go again when I got there and this time there were bushes.  Well, I didn't have enough TP so I had to call Tom to come get me so I could go to my mom's and take care of it.  But Tom was asleep so my little brother had to come with his car.  

I felt like such an idiot.  

Then I finished my run after and the pace was a whole minute/mile slower.  Gah!  Why, body, when I feed you healthy stuff do you turn on me like that?!!

But the rest of the day was filled with sand dunes and a movie and there were no more embarrassing stories to tell.  That one was enough.

  3. Not trying to gross you out but just ask, is it normal for your stomach to have these side effects when eating healthier? I'm not on a vegan diet but have also noticed my functions changing even as I am eating healthier

    1. Yep. Unfortunately it's completely normal. It happened to me before I tried out this vegan thing. All that fiber cleans you right out.

  5. How did I know this was going to be a poop story? I love your honesty :) With the vegan thing - I had that problem for a little bit, when I cut out dairy. I'm pretty sure I had an issue with the soy milk. If you aren't adjusting after a few weeks, I'd take a look at some of the new foods you're eating and try cutting them out one by one to see if they are the cause.
