Dollar Store Fall Mantle

Does anyone else hate the smell of the dollar store?  I sure do.  But I love some of the things you can get for crafting there!  For example, Dollar Tree has this packet of fall leaves and some pumpkins for a buck each (obviously) and I picked some up for some fall projects for my mantle.

First up, I made this leaf covered R (since our last name is Rich) out of cardboard, the dollar leaves, hot glue and some Mod Podge.

I cut out the R.  Here is a picture of it mid-cut.  You will notice the picture with the leaves has a bigger center.    I put Mod Podge on the cardboard then placed the leaves on top, then Mod Podged on top of the leaves.  If you do this, I recommend just hot gluing the leaves on and maybe Mod Podging over.  I used hot glue to glue the edges of the leaves to the back of the R and it was done.  Super easy.

I painted two coats of a very light gray paint over the orange pumpkins then hot glued a brown ribbon around the middle where the dent/line is.

And here it is all red and orange and ready for the temperatures to drop just a bit.

Linking up at the great Linky parties found at the bottom of the blog.  They are where I find most of my inspiration!  Check them out!
